“We would like to set standards for the trade sector and also show other companies a way how to use this new technology in accordance with data protection”.
Dr. David Frink, Board of management
Open communication and transparency in dealing with this new technology is very important to us. Gerry Weber will never write or store any customer-related personal data on RFID chips. If you wish, our staff personnel can remove RFID labels after you have checked out at the cashier’s desk.
Europe´s restrictive data privacy sets global standards. All relevant data standards and recommendations are met by Gerry Weber. Furthermore, Gerry Weber has voluntary subjected itself to extremely stringent data privacy regulations (see www.fashiongrouprfid.de).
- Gerry Weber does not store any personal data on the RFID transponder. The data is neither gathered, processed nor used. The Federal Data Protection Act clearly stipulates that no use of the data may be used without prior consent of the customer. Only an anonymous number which is not relevant to the end consumer is stored. If the article is sold, the number is de-activated in the data base.
- After a purchase, it is explicitly not possible to associate RFID information with individual sales transactions or customers.
- If requested, the visibly sewed-in RFID chip is removed directly at the checkout desk or it can be removed at home. The information about care instructions and product composition will be retained.
- If the chip is not removed skin contact can be excluded due to the method of affixing. The material meets the same high requirements we make on our care labels (Öko-Tex 100).
