Difference between an active an inactive transponder:
Passive transponders are systems, which pull the needed energy out of the field of a RFID sensor and therefore do not possess energy supply on their own.
Active transponders do have their own energy supply. Either they do have an installed battery or run via an external electricity grid.
Gerry Weber does only use passive transponders.
